About The Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics
The Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics was set up in 1965 and was named at that time The Faculty of Economic Calculus and Cybernetics. It had three sections: Mechanization and Automation of Economic Calculus, Economic Statistics and Economic Cybernetics, of which the last two sections are still operational.
The first promotion of graduates was in 1969. Between 1974 and 1978, its name was the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics and Statistics, still preserving the three sections of specialization. From 1978 to 1990, there was only one section of specialization, and its name was the Faculty of Economic Planning and Cybernetics.
Since 1990 the faculty was reorganized under the name of Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics. A branch of the former department of Economic Cybernetics was settled in autumn 1990 as the Department of Economic Informatics.
Since 2011, within the faculty there are two academic departments:
- Economic Informatics and Cybernetics
- Statistics and Econometrics
Currently the main Faculty aims are the application of the methods and techniques based on systems theory, mathematics modeling, simulation, statistical analysis and computer science in economy. The Faculty has 1,542 undergraduate students, of which 206 are studying on distance learning. Furthermore, 1,169 graduated students are attending to master degree courses and 231 to doctoral studies.
The Faculty has three specialization sections:
