The Department of Economic Informatics and Cybernetics coordinates two specializations which are part of the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics (CSEI) curricula.
The section for Economic Informatics specialization has seen several changes in time. Initially its name was Mechanization and Automation of Economic Calculus. The specialization was certified in 1965. In 2010-2011 academic year, the Economic Informatics section has 1100 full time and over 1000 postgraduate students (for master degree).
The Economic Informatics and Cybernetics programs offer training in an interdisciplinary field, that emphasize a business based economy. The business informatics and cybernetics field is placed at the intersection between economic sciences, mathematics, cybernetics and computer science. The goal is to help students to well understand the social-economic phenomena and to build models for high performance information systems. In brief, the educational programs collection contains: the undergraduate program, the master programs, the doctoral program and postgraduate and proficiency programs.
The Undergraduate Program in Economic Informatics & Cybernetics
Ensures the training for: analysis, design and implementation of information systems in enterprises; utilization and configuration of software packages with application in economy; development and introduction of the applied software; research and application of the new computer science technologies; computer programming skills.
As good analysts, good specialists in the latest technique, able to understand and analyze the problems of management, the graduates should be able to offer solutions at the level of the latest achievements in the field, in closed connection with the goals, organization and possibilities of the enterprise. The Master Programs in Economic Informatics & Cybernetics
The duration of the master programs extends over two years. Admission to the master cycle is made based on the results obtained in the previous cycle for non-financed studies and based on a written test for budgeted studies. After having attended the 2nd cycle, students have to write and present the dissertation thesis.Graduates obtain the master degree with different specializations in Economic Informatics and Cybernetics.
There are seven master programs managed by the Economic Informatics Department staff: two research masters (Economic Informatics and Cybernetics) and five professional master programs (Project Management, Databases – Support for Business, E-Business, IT&C Security and SIMPRE). Read more…

Programs for Postgraduate Certificate in Economic Informatics & Cybernetics
The postgraduate students are offered proficiency courses by the Department of Economic Informatics and Cybernetics. The proficiency courses are:

- Java Programming – Cisco Networking Academy Program

Proficiency Programs for High School Teachers
Confirmation as a high school teacher program
The candidate must have graduated the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics, any specialization, a master’s degree and to have taught for at least five years. The program consists of courses in computer science, psychology of education and pedagogy, with the duration of 60 hours, over two weeks.
The Economic Informatics courses (electronic calculus systems and computer programming) last 20 hours; they are given by the faculty of the Department of Economic Informatics and Cybernetics. At the end of the program, the students have to pass an exam. Read more…
